In April, Harvard Business School announced they would allow students to defer enrollment for the Class of 2022 considering the uncertain circumstances surrounding COVID-19. The HBS Admissions Director announced in a blog post on June 2, 2020 that the enrollment deferral for the Fall 2020 deadline had ended and the typical class size of 930 has been reduced to about 720.

What does that mean for applicants? It means that there are about 200 people who deferred their admissions offer and will be part of the class of 2023 or 2024. However, if the Harvard Business School does not increase the size of the class for the class of 2023 and 2024, then that is equivalent to already having 200 admits. There is a constraint in the number of seats available for these classes and the application year will be even more competitive than before.
